Domestic Violence – Criminal Trespass
Domestic Violence – Criminal Trespass
Criminal trespass in the context of domestic violence is very similar to burglary. The main difference between the two is that a person commits a burglary if he intends to commit an additional crime in the place he enters. There is no need to commit an additional crime for trespass. It is sufficient under the law if a person is simply peering into the windows of your home.
It may not seem like a serious offense, however, having a former spouse or significant other trespassing can be a very frightening experience. You can always contact your local police department and request some extra patrols in your neighborhood if you think your former significant other is escalating to a possible violation of the Domestic Violence Act.
