Domestic Violence – Criminal Sexual Contact

Domestic Violence – Criminal Sexual Contact

In most cases involving criminal sexual contact, the Defendant will be a family member who is sexually abusing another member of the household.  Many child molestation cases end up with charges of criminal sexual contact which will result in the issuance of a restraining order.

A person is guilty of criminal sexual contact or aggravated sexual contact if there is any sexual contact with a family member, a child of any age, a person who is mentally incapacitated or if the actor used physical force.  If you are a parent of a child you suspect is being abused by someone in the home, it is your responsibility to get help for that child.  Sexual abuse comes with a tremendous amount of complicated feelings that should be addressed by mental health professionals.  Additionally, because the victim is often a child or someone unable to stop the abuse themselves, it is particularly important to recognize the symptoms of abuse and put a stop to it immediately.
