Domestic Violence in New Jersey?

Domestic is defined in New Jersey by statute, specifically N.J.S.A. 2C:29-19.  The statute says that domestic violence occurs if one or more of the following acts are committed upon a person who is protected under the Domestic Violence Act of 1991.

    Listed below are the possible acts which constitute domestic violence in New Jersey:

    (1)    Assault
    (2)    Burglary
    (3)    Criminal mischief
    (4)    Criminal restraint
    (5)    Criminal sexual contact
    (6)    Criminal Trespass
    (7)    False Imprisonment
    (8)    Harassment
    (9)    Homicide
    (10)  Kidnapping
    (11)  Lewdness
    (12)  Sexual Assault
    (13)  Stalking
    (14)  Terroristic Threats
